Haldimand Motors - The Great Tricycle Race 2003: Dunnville Rotary's "Jungle Book" Float.
With the big shoes of a last-year first prize to fill, Dunnville Rotary takes to Haldimand Motors' Great Annual Tricycle Race with a new Jungle Book theme, assembling a beautiful float, with much more than just the "bare necessities".
Bob lifts a plant into place on the float to hide the rear set of speakers that will later blast out the "Bare Necessities" and "I Wanna Be Like You," among other Jungle Book music selections.
Archie helps out, fastening the float together for its longer trip down and back up Haldimand Motors' giant car lot.
Everyone helps out decorating and gathering plants and brush from absolutely anywhere - no tree was left untrimmed in the lot where they put the float together. Hurry and hide those speakers!
The Jungle Book theme starts to take shape as the float comes together with nearly all of the props and decorations in place.

Rotarians get into costume and pose for pictures as a proud club admires their job well done.
Float driver and Rotarian Archie shows off his jungle explorer costume and rain stick as he gets ready to navigate the giant rig through a crowd of on looking children.

Gorillas, tigers, bears, a guy dressed as a tree with a big stuffed snake wrapped around him and Mowgli are a few of the Jungle Book movie characters brought to life by the Dunnville Club. Everyone is ready for their big moment!
Pulled behind an Isuzu 4x4, conveniently done up in true jungle explorer style, the cast of characters dance and wave as the Bare Necessities plays over the mobile sound system. I'm hidden in the back of the vehicle manning the controls and making sure just the right song plays as we pass the judges. Dunnville Rotary takes first place in the tricycle race with Todd on the pedals in a fast-paced race for the finish, and the float takes second prize finishing just shy of the "Happy Days" float. Dunnville Rotary won over $8000 in total from Haldimand Motors for their community. Thanks again for being able to help out with the float!
